Happy New Year!

The recovery period after new years is over, yep we’ve all gotten our day off to make sure that we’re not hung over after the big new years party. Personally I was fine yesterday but it felt really nice to take a day and do nothing. But today everyone is back in reality and in some cases this reality is a very expensive one with Christmas bills coming up soon.

But this time of year is also a time for reflecting and setting some new goals for the year. Some people call them New Years resolutions but personally I think they’re more often goals than resolutions. I’ve made one New Years resolution and I made it before the big ball dropped in Times Square by a whole two days. What is this one resolution you ask? Well I resolve not to smoke ever again; I’m into my fourth day and surprisingly I’m not really craving them anymore. My fiancé is doing the same thing but she’s two days ahead of me. It’s time to finally stop the smoking, the polluting of our bodies for a price.

Now onto the goals, I’m going to outline 2 or 3 specific goals as I get them organized and planned out in the next day or two and I’ll post those up individually since those are my actual goals for the year. But Above and beyond that I am going to attempt a few more things including figuring out a way to organize my finances around my new pay (when it kicks in), paying down credit card debt, learning more about personal finance (though this is a given considering the nature of the site). When it comes to this site I’m going to write a little bit more, at the very least I would like to get a head of myself, and maybe play around with the design to make it a bit cleaner.

On a personal note I’m going to start going to the gym to get in shape; I’m paying for an insanely expensive gym membership, time to use the puppy. Overall I would like this year to be more focused on accomplishments that I know I can achieve rather than floating along like I have in the past. It’s time to bring my life into some measure of success instead of debt and longing.
